The region has roots in the classic car fandom dating back to the 70s when the now-named “Pigeon Forge Rod Run” began in Gatlinburg. Scenic mountain roads and towns built around tourism are a natural draw, offering fun drives and plenty of places to stay. Ponies in the Smokies
- When: Every spring (typically late March)

- Happenings: Specifically targeted to Mustang fans and owners, you’ll find indoor displays of every Mustang iteration, competitions, and a “Shine Run” drive through the Smokies
Grand National F-100 Ford Truck Reunion
- When: Every year in mid-May
- Where: LeConte Event Center, Pigeon Forge, TN
- Happenings: Largest classic Ford Pickup show in the U.S. Check out trucks dating from 1996 and older

Pontiacs in Pigeon Forge
Date: June 4-6
Benefitting the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Pontiacs in Pigeon Forge will feature raffles, silent auctions, Best in Show competitions, and a Saturday night ride along the strip. Check out classic GTO’s, Firebirds, and more!

Smoky Mountain Summerfest
Date: July 25
Head to the Sevier County Fairgrounds for a day of food trucks, local vendors, live music, and tons of classic cars. Stick around to see who wins Best in Show and Best Custom.

Big Rig Showdown
Date: July 30 – August 1
Who hasn’t passed a big-rig driver and done the notorious “honk-honk” gesture? If you’re ready to get up close to the roadway monsters, the Big Rig Showdown is for you. Check out some of the slickest rig setups on the road and enjoy days of indoor and outdoor displays, vendors, food, music, and nightly light shows and parking lot parties.

Great Smoky Mountain Bronco Stampede
Date: August 14-15

Saddle up and get ready for two days of all things Bronco. From parts and accessories to rig shows and even on-site installations, this is the one-stop shop for enthusiasts. Events run daily from 9 AM – 5 PM, and tickets are sold on-site. Don’t miss the Show and Shine competition with awards presented Saturday at 3 PM.

- Price: $15 for adults $ for kids 6-12, and free for those 5 years and under
Great Smoky Mountain Jeep Invasion
Date: August 20-22
Jeep clubs and fans from around the country converge on the Great Smoky Mountains for three days of expos showing off the latest trends and accessories at this top car show near Gatlinburg. It’s the perfect spot to find your next upgrade! Special merch will be available, too. Daily admission grants you access to special indoor and outdoor viewing areas from 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM. Awards will be handed out for top models and special activities are set to keep everyone entertained.

Hot Rod Nationals
Date: September 4-5
Those of us who grew up on Tim the Tool-Man Taylor from Home Improvement are no strangers to the hot rod. But popularity extends beyond that to a nation-wide fandom centered around classic builds and an enthusiasm for celebrating and preserving the true artisan qualities of these cars. Explore everything from muscle cars to motorcycles at this popular car show in the Great Smoky Mountains.

Fall Rod Run
Date: September 17-19
See hundreds of rigs, explore the car corral, and watch as awards are handed out to some of the most impressive rides. There’s even a cash giveaway of $10,000! This 3-day Pigeon Forge car show is one of the most popular fall events, so don’t miss it!

F-100 Supernationals Truck Show

Date: September 17-19
The parking lot at the Sevierville Convention Center will be overflowing with hundreds of cars this fall as the F-100 show rolls back into town. Inside the arena, expect vendor booths, Swap Meets, custom event t-shirts and merch, plus opening ceremony events and daily activities. The fun takes place from 8 AM to 5 PM, with special vehicle unveilings at 10:45 AM on Friday the 18th.

Smoky Mountain Truck Fest
Date: September 25-26
From the highest lifts to the lowest beds, Truck Fest lets you show off your most prized model. Bikini contests and car awards will take place across the two-day event. Highlights are still being finalized, but registration is open if you’re interested in participating with your own ride.
- Where: Sevierville Convention Center
- Price: $30 at the gate for both days. Current info states that kids ages 10 and younger or 12 and younger are free. Contact event for clarification.
Smoky Mountain Fallfest
Date: September 26
Gear up for family fun at the fairgrounds for this free car show, complete with games, food trucks, and tons of vendors. Live music and DJs will be on-site to keep the vibes going all day long.

Smoky Mountain F-Body Fest
Date: October 15-17
Calling all Camero, Firebird, and Trans Am lovers, the F-Body Fest is guaranteed to be three days of action-packed fun. You’ll see insane custom paint jobs, mingle with fellow fans, and get to talk shop until your heart’s content.

Smoky Mountain Overland Invasion
Date: October 23
One of the most unique car shows coming to the Gatlinburg area is the Overland Invasion, where professional trekkers will gather to check out the latest in pop-up truck-top tents, car-ready stoves and cooktops, adventure travel equipment, and more. You’ll see demonstrations that help you visualize how you can use specific mods and get a look at everything you need if you’re interested in overlanding. In its inaugural year, this is one you should definitely make time for during your fall Smoky Mountain vacation.

Car Experiences in Gatlinburg

While you aren’t likely to find many car shows in Gatlinburg these days, there are two great car experiences you can visit year-round.
Gatlinburg Car Museum
The Gatlinburg Car Museum is home to a collection of classic, celebrity, movie, and specialty vehicles that showcase automotive history and pop culture. Walk through exhibits featuring famous cars from film and television, rare collector vehicles, and custom builds while learning about the stories behind them.

Speedwerkz Exotic Car Experience
Speedwerkz Exotic Car Experience brings some of the world's most exclusive supercars and hypercars to downtown Gatlinburg. The attraction features rotating displays of exotic vehicles from brands like Lamborghini, Ferrari, McLaren, Porsche, and Bugatti, presented with immersive lighting and sound effects. You can also try racing simulators and take photos inside select exotic cars for a hands-on experience.
